What We Do

Feeding Program
VVOCF fully understands that in order to nourish the mind, nourish the body. Currently, we provide 3 meals a week. VVOCF would like to eventually provide meals everyday to the children that come to the center.

Uniform Fund
VVOCF values education, therefore we work to provide the children and youth in our program new school uniforms, so that there is one more force working towards the continuation of their formal education.

Programming
Weekly programming at the VVOCF’s children center include activities such as:

  • Academic tutoring
  • ESL classes
  • Sports and physical activity
  • Artistic expression in all its forms
  • Team-building exercises
  • Leadership development
  • HIV/AIDS education

Pen Pal Program
VVOCF children and youth have been connected to students from Michigan State University and elementary schools in East Lansing, MI. Letters have been exchanged and friendships have been made. For more history on the pen pal program please click the “Pen Pal Program” link.

Internship Program
There are three components to the VVOCF internship program:

  1. U.S.-based internship program: Interns in the U.S. raise funds for and awareness of VVOCF.
  2. South Africa-based internship program: Interns work with the permanent staff members in Zonkizizwe to assist in grant-writing, program creation, and staff development.
  3. VVOCF internship program: Young adults within the VVOCF program increase their leadership skills by taking on greater responsibility in the running of the center and its activities.
If you would like more information on the internship programs or on becoming a U.S. or South Africa-based intern please click the “Internship Program” link.
